Jaret Sacrey Star of Screen & Stage By Jewel Stoyan ![]() Jaret Sacrey (far right) with wife and friends In the echoing, wet, dark hallway single footsteps run in haste followed by several footsteps chasing. Peter Church, lawyer, a well-educated man encased in a layer of sin is running desperately for his life. Excerpt from: The Vampire Conspiracy a Marc Morgenstern Production, Five Strangers Films Limited Jaret Sacrey Remember that name for one day soon you will say, I read about that great new actor in the Canadian Macedonian News and I saw him in a live interview on the Macedonian Edition television show.Although Jaret Sacrey was born in Canada, raised in Toronto, studied in New York City at the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts, he has not forgotten he is half Macedonian. Presently living in Los Angeles, California, he was recently in Toronto for the world premier screening of his latest film, The Vampire Conspiracy. at the Royal Cinema, on College Street. Jaret plays the lead role of Peter Church, Lawyer, controlled by an ominous evil being from ancient time. Forced to be the devils agent, the vampires web entangles Peter in an infinite nightmare and sleepless death. As he tries to fight the power of darkness and warn the unsuspecting new victims, he grows insane and eventually becomes fresh meat for the hungry undead. Definitely, a gruesome, awesome, impressive story for the mature audience, however a story line with substance. Morgensterns plot weaves its characters together through a link from their past, and pits them against each other with personality clashes that lead them to want each other dead. He introduces the seven heavenly Virtues of Faith, Hope, Charity, Prudence, Temperance, Fortitude and Justice. The opposite of the seven deadly sins made popular by the movie Seven. Jarets acting ability is put to the test in the extremely demanding role of Peter Church. He is introduced as highly stressed and irrational. His character quickly moves to spastic and disjointed dialogue with spurts of coherence. Then he is challenged with depicting an epileptic seizure. Performing a spastic fit is difficult enough on stage but on film with close up shots is more than most actors would attempt. Only a highly skilled actor can judge the fine line of how far to take the movements before the performance appears to be over the top. Although his character is larger than life, being possessed by the head vampire he is believable as he merges his character into insanity. When offered the part he remarked, "It's one of those roles every actor thinks about playing." Fighting, insanity, fits of rage, seizures, being stabbed and eaten by vampires .Yes the ultimate role Generally speaking, the film is impressive. The cast works well together as they move through the maze to solve the game to save their own lives. The direction is tight, the timing and editing are very well done . However, there are sections where the acting is weak due to a miscast character and a little too much foul language for the general audience. The storyline is good enough it does not need the added sensation of constant swearing from certain characters. The Vampire Conspiracy is now on the festival circuit and no doubt, we will be hearing more about it at the Film Festivals throughout the world. Jaret returned to Los Angeles, to the news he had won an award for Best Ensemble Performance for his role in Killer Joe an independent play, produced last spring. Killer Joe also won Best Play, Best Director and Best Sound Design. To win top honours against LAs biggest established theatres was an amazing feat, as the Ovation Awards include all theatre productions in LA.November 14th at the Orpheum Theatre was indeed a night to remember as Jaret Sacrey walked the red carpet he was presented the award for Best Ensemble by the memorable Sally Kellerman (Hot lips, in the original M.A.S.H) Turning Dreams into Reality Jaret has worked hard to maintain himself in the big pond. It has been a constant struggle to be a Canadian actor without connections and break into a heartless industry. However, he is determined to follow his dreams. After spending four years at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, studying all aspects of acting he received a scholarship for his postgraduate work in television and film. He continued his art by spending a year on a t.v.soap opera until he moved to Hollywood to work in film. Over the past 10 years, he has worked all aspects of the business. Being multi-talented, as well as being a skilled actor, Jaret has designed and built sets for stage and film. He has appeared in many commercials, shorts and independent films. He has worked as stage and tech manager, as well as production designer on commercial sets. Among his long list of credits, he has written directed and produced his own festival film, which he hopes to finish editing for spring 2006 Macedonian film festival. Jarets persistence, stamina, determination, and love for his art surpass any one I have met in the industry. This strength comes from his Macedonian heritage. We as Macedonians are proud to have him in our bloodline. When he becomes world famous, he will not forget his roots. I have followed his career for many years and know his successes will continue. He deserves to have all his dreams come true. He dares to dream the impossible dreams and turns them into realities. Comments or concerns contact stellasmemories@yahoo.ca |
